naturopathy today

Naturopathy is the system of healing in which diseases are cured by means of all natural and rational remedies such as light, water, air, heat, exercise, diet and other physiological measures. Naturopathy is built upon the dictum of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, who declared "Nature cures; not the physicians". Naturopathy is considered a whole medical system that has an emphasis on supporting health rather than combating problems or diseases after they occur. Naturopathy is truly a distinct school of practice. It is in reality the oldest drugless school of healing in existence. By definition, naturopathic doctors (ND) treat the nature of the disease or the nature of the pathology. Naturopaths work to uncover the source of the illness and treat both the symptoms and the cause

Naturopathy is often, if not always, practiced in combination with other forms of "alternative" health practices. Naturopathy is a system designed to work in harmony with nature in the restoration and support for the inherent natural healing systems of the body, based on the belief that the body is self-healing.  The body will repair itself and recover from illness spontaneously if it is in a healthy environment. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopathic doctors (N.D.s) or naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D.s) strive to find the cause of disease by understanding the patient as a totality of body, mind, and spirit. Naturopathy is the practice of looking beyond the symptoms of the problem, and coming up with a diagnosis of the cause and treating the whole problem. Naturopathy also focuses on disease prevention. This long term prevention approach is a time consuming task, and much less dramatic and news-reel-worthy than attacking and destroying a disease with a one-size-fits-all cure. Naturopathy is a natural process and natural processes do take time. Chronic conditions often take many years to manifest themselves so it is only to be expected that they can take some time to resolve

Naturopathy is getting increasingly popular in all countries across the globe among people who wish to escape the various side effects and symptoms, which are caused by allopathic system of medicine. Naturopathic physicians also function within an integrated framework, for example referring patients to an appropriate medical specialist such as an oncologist or a surgeon. Naturopathic therapies can be employed within that context to complement the treatments used by conventionally trained medical doctors. They will also use appropriate lab work, x-rays, and other tools for diagnosis and tracking when necessary. NDs treat the whole person, beginning with a comprehensive assessment of every patient. This information helps us to determine the root cause of your imbalances that contribute to your current condition.

The first type of treatment is most likely to be diet, especially Elimination Diet: Most patients under naturopathic care reportedly improve with the elimination of foods they might be allergic to. Since 70% of our immune system surrounds our gut in the form of GALT (Gut Associated Lymphatic Tissue), most conditions of autoimmunity will respond to the reduction of foods that the patient is allergic or intolerant to. Often many patients find that they can reduce or even eliminate medication, once their eating habits have been so drastically changed, although not all of them. Often patients report they just start to feel better overall, even though they may not notice significant improvement in symptoms initially. This is usually a good sign that their symptoms will begin to improve shortly. Typically, patients return in four to six weeks for a follow up visit to evaluate treatment progress and the  ND will often recommend further testing if such testing would be advantageous for the patient. At any stage naturopaths are educating the patients, as they are not viewed as passive recipients. Healing comes only when you choose to take responsibility for your own health. Determination and self discipline as well as leading a moral (by moral meaning responsible) life can be developed over the course of treatment which also adds to what I was saying before that Naturopathy takes time. The potential lesson and invigorating lifestyle that are the result of this regime can last a lifetime, giving naturopathy a life changing potential characteristic overall.
