Homeopathy is a holistic form of medicine developed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann at the turn of the 19th century. Homeopathy is a vitalist philosophy in that it believes that diseases are caused by disturbances in a vital or life force. Hahnemann promoted a vitalistic view of how living organisms function, because he believed that diseases have spiritual, as well as, physical causes.

Homeopathic medicines are chosen to treat the whole person, because homeopaths believe the mind and body operate as one, and you cannot treat one part of the body without affecting the whole. Homeopathy is a natural, non invasive system of medical treatment  based on the principle that "like cures like" the theory that substances that cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can—in diluted amounts —cure those symptoms in an unhealthy person. Samuel Hahnemann took high, conventional doses of plant medicines and observed the symptoms produced, and then used extremely dilute versions of the same plant to treat diseases that produced similar symptoms. Thus, we get the name homeopathy: homeo for similar, pathy for disease.

Homeopathy has more than 2000 remedies to choose from. Remedies can be taken orally in pill, powder, or drop form, rubbed topically, or injected. Remedies are made by a sequence of dilutions of the starting material in purified water or aqueous ethanol with considerable agitation (called succussion)Remedies are made from many sources–including plants, minerals or animals–are prescribed based on both a person’s symptoms and personality. Homeopathy is completely safe. Even babies and pregnant women can use Homeopathy without the danger of side effects. Homeopathy is used to treat acute and chronic health problems as well as for disease prevention and health promotion. Although there are usually no side effects from homeopathic treatments, a patient can experience what is called a "healing aggravation," a temporary accentuation of symptom. Basically one remedy is curative at a given moment of time. If the correct remedy is given there will be a brief healing crisis within few days or few weeks followed by gradual and sustained improvement over a period of months/years depending on the severity and the pathology of the case

Homeopathy is recognised as a safe, inexpensive and effective form of treatment against illness, and it is used by literally millions of people worldwide. It is gaining popularity but its efficacy is disputed, also controversial because although there is some evidence that it is not just a placebo, no one understands how it could work. Homeopathy is completely inconsistent with the acknowledged laws of chemistry and physics. It is based on the theory that states that extreme dilution makes drugs more powerful which is, according to all natural sciences, completely illogical. Despite the controversy Homeopathy is accepted to different degrees by most medical establishments worldwide. This has enabled the existence of homeopathic hospitals, the most famous is the Royal Homeopathic Hospital in London, England which funded by the Royal Family, is a popular resource for both the Royals and UK Citizen alike.
